My girls want to keep all of the Pettiskirts that we get done.They are so fun! They would be fun to wear for Christmas. The gray one is actually a fun leopard print.
And yes that is our new overnighter bag, so many people have put in orders to use it for their temple bag.

Places I'll be this week

Some fun shows this week. These are just different enough that you would want to check out both of them if you can! I had a lot of new stuff made up over the weekend so there will be some fun new vintage gypsy purses and fancy holiday skirts there.
Had a wonderful time at Beehive Bazaar and Art Market this weekend, I don't know how these gals pull it off. They just have to deal with vendors, buyers, marketing and check out.... It's all a little bit crazy!

Art Market, Beehive Bazaar and a show in Boise!

I've been sewing like crazy this week!! Such pretty velvets and Chenilles are being made into lovely bags. The skirts are on a little more Fancy note. But I still wear some of my lace skirts with my Motorcycle boots. The little girls skirts are really full and have tulle!!

Art Market and Beehive Bazaar This weekend!!!!

I'll just say I'm thankful for all my home sewers that help me out so that I can have enough inventory to do all these shows. If I had to sew everything myself there would be only 10 purses. I do sew all the first ones myself so I can see how they turn out though.
I'm also thankful for my kids that are All so different and make me laugh! And for my wonderful sexy husband!!!!
Asia is home for Thanksgiving so it was her turn to model new purses.
I'll post the times for both these shows on Monday. They start Thursday and go until Sat. Two of my favorite shows!!!!

Finally some skirt pictures!!!

Here's some of the new skirts...So fun to wear tights and boots. The fancy Holiday Party skirts are almost done. They are out of black, cream, lavender and mint green lace.Dress them up or make them casual.They'll be at least to the knee.

You can find one of a kind fabrics,soddered pieces of vintage jewelry, original art that is fabulous. I can go on and on it is a visual feast!!

I'm loving all these vintage, cut velvet and chenille's that I get to play with. I just received a package from Belgium yesterday full of vintage Belgium table cloths... so fabulous! They should get sewn up soon because I want to make something with them so bad.

More ruffles

I'm in a gift show this weekend in Hyrum Friday Nov.13th 5:00-8;00pm and Nov 14th 11:00-8:pm.35 North 400 West . There are some very talented artist there! It's at Leona's house who makes these amazing glass bowls and serving dishes in her kiln, the colors are amazing! so so beautiful and unique. I always end up buying one of her pieces.Her home is a restored seminary building, it's worth it just to see her home.There's going to be really unique jewelry, aprons, fiber arts, stainglass food and more!
O.k. as far as the shirts go...so easy! Get one of your plain shirts and and cut fabric whatever width you like, knit works best because it doesn't fray. and just gather it around the collar of your shirt! Great way to embellish for layering. The cardigan I made, but you can just go get a plain one and rip some fabric and gather it around the lapels. Fun simple and a great way to revamp ( I love that word!) you're clothes.

Loving ruffles and gathers

I'm loving making all these flowers and ruffles... the only problem is they look the best done with silk and velvets. So then they are more expensive. I always try to keep my purses affordable, by recycling fabric or hand dyeing laces and velvets, But these just take a lot of time. Especially when I have to hand sew on rhinestones and pearls. I never use glue! But I do like the look of the shabby roses. If you love these let me know because I won't be making a ton. I just have so many other projects that need to get done.
And it's been really cool to meet so many of you at shows! People show up wearing purses I made a long time ago and it's like seeing an old friend.

The Treehouse Athletic club is on 1101 East Draper Parkway Friday 5-9pm they are having everything there! Spa stuff like facials , botox, nail art, then vendors selling food , jewelry designer jeans the works! I haven't really done such a commercial type boutique, so we'll see how my vintage/ hand sewn things go.
yes this is a super crazy time for me!!! But it pushes me to make new stuff everyday!! I have so much new vintage velvets and trims in that I start one project then the mail comes with new fabric , so I get excited about that project.... yes there are half done projects on all my tables! I should post a picture... I always see these beautiful craft rooms on blogs, everything organized by color, clean and tidy, and mine has never looked that way!! It's a little chaotic but I know where everything is.

Three more shows this week. One in Kaysville on Wednesday , the Piper and Chloe show in Farmington on the weekend and one in Draper at the Treehouse Athletic club on friday I'll post that flyer tomorrow! They have tons of vender and spa stuff available at that one! It's getting so busy right now! I have at least 2 shows everyweek so check on Mondays to see if they'll be close by. New inventory is getting made up each week too! Can't wait to show you the Party skirts!!!!

We went to a BYU/ CDU reunion Last night spanning 1980-1990's.It was very cool to see so many old friends that made me laugh so hard. My friend shared these pictures. It's fun to see, we called the dresses sheet dress, well because they were made out of sheets. We'd dye them then sew them up into drop waist dresses.We would also meet at the Cougar bowling alley once a week for bowling. The only way you would be invited if you couldn't break 100 and you had to wear a dress. And it was the 80's after all, so we'd go dancing at least 2 times a week.And yes I did graduate!I'll post pics from the reunion, fun fun friends!

Now I have to go pick up my son cuz he told the teacher he wasn't feeling well, so he has to stay in the nurses office all day unless I do. I know precautions. But he's really not that sick, no fever just stayed up to late last night. I think these kids are going to manipulate this whole flew epidemic thing.Hmmmmmmm

The last couple of weeks I've been getting fabrics in for fall, thinking about what I want to wear for fall. I just love skirts, especially with something going on. So here are a few inspiring ideas that are seeping into my designs. I can't wait to show you.There will be lots of applique, layers and ruffles. I might even get some fun rich textured coats in. Last year they sold out so fast I never got more made.

2 week vacation rocks!

I love going back home every summer!! 2 weeks on the beach is just lovely. Also this summer everyone ( except for a few on missions) were together! My sis even flew in from Singapore with her family. I'll post more pics as soon as I get them. This is a pic of my sisters and sis-inlaws with my mum.

Love all this bird fabric!! I get so sad when I go through a whole bolt and didn't keep a skirt for me. The pink birds are almost gone, the light blue owl fabric is almost gone. Sigh.... I'll just start appliqueing more birds onto skirts. Still am not tired of them.

Hyrum knows how to celebrate!!

We love our Hyrum dairy Princesses!!! Hyrum has the best little parade! Right down main street. We all ran the mile run that happens right before the parade. If your ever up this way, make sure you try the ice cream!!!

Poppies and a Trunkshow in Preston Idaho

What is it about poppies?? They are just a happy flower.We have this little hill by our house that is just covered in Poppies! Piper gets so sad because when she picks them, they just don't last very long.
Good news this week, the Husband just got hired as the English teacher and Art teacher at Logan H.S. It's been fun because he started sketching again, I love when his sketches are just lying all over the house. In different stages of completion.
Also for anyone who lives in Southern Idaho, we'll be in Preston, Thursday!

There was supposed to be some thunderstorms today, but it turned out rather nice. So we headed to the lake for some Kayaking, swimming and a little jumping off of Big Toe.

This is my friend Danielle! We met at a yoga retreat where she had her guitar with her and we would just hang around the fireplace at night and chat, share or she would sing.

Fun new fabrics. The top are a drop gathered waist skirt.... and then there's the A- line, with two layers. This last one is the new high waisted skirt, That's a lycra striped band instead of elastic. You could wear it lower too.

I decided to post this a little earlier. I've been getting complaints that people don't hear about events fast enough. For all of you down south , there is going to be another Trunk show in The Provo area April 29th. then we have Art Market in Surgarhouse May 1- 2nd. I have gotten bolts of new fabric in!!! Can't wait to show you some pics!!

If you would of asked me when I was 8, birds have always been my favorite animal

Finally got the bird purses done!!! Well most of them, let me know if you still want to see the owls... they sold pretty fast. O.k. so birds have always been my favorite animal. I used to save my money and buy those cute little glass birds on the cream colored card stock at Hallmark. Remember those?? I think they still might sell them. Well I had collected so many of them that by the time I was 12yrs old, my mom bought me a China cabinet with 3 shelves and glass all the way around. I filled the whole dang thing! And it was at least 5 ft tall. I kept all the bird nest I had found in the bottom drawer. I used to love to look at those in awe at how a little bird could weave all that with just it's beak. I also received a bird book from my brother, for my birthday one year, and would sit outside an look up all the birds that were in our yard. Now I have walls of art with a fun assortment of bird pictures. I received these two bottom pictures for my birthday. One I bought from artandghost on Etsy and the other, Zerin ( my son) drew for me. Now I just have to frame them and get them up on my wall!!!

Also I got some fabulous black and white cut velvet in, It's so soft and thick. There is going to be all sizes out of this, from makeup bags - large hip hobo's. But it's going quick I have 6 already sold!!! Crazy!

These two cousins love a good party! They had their pearls on, bows in their hair and their cute Just Be... skirts. They were so fun to watch. Freezing For A Reason

Saturday Theo and Zerin jumped in Frozen Hyrum Lake. They had to cut a hole in the ice.This is one of the biggest fundraisers for Special Olympics. Yes it was Freezing about 30 degrees outside. Yes, they did have a big army tent with tons of heaters for them right when got out. And yes they are going to do it again next year.

New things arriving daily!!!

The Bott's are having a "PINK PARTY" in honor of their mom, Part of all sales will go towards the Komen foundation for The Cure. You know they will have the best treats ever!!!

Getting some moooooore purses done... Christmas cleaned out my inventory pretty much. Which is a good thing. Got some more new fabric today!!! Can't wait to cut into it!!

Black and white purses

Some new blacks and white purses. These always go the fastest. The pleather bow has a rhinestone circle in the middle. Starting to make the new slips for under shorter skirts or just for layering. That is the cream one under the little black dress. These are going in my Etsy store soon.

Inspiration for SPRING!!!!!

Why do we love shoes???? I can look at shoe websites for way to long. I got the booties at the top for Christmas, have to say love them with tights and a fun skirt. I like the ruffle pumps too! Some day I would love to own a pair of Fluevog's , they are the boots at the bottom.






Just checking out all the new looks for Spring!!! These are from Prada, Christian Lacroix and some Armani. I spend way to much time on youtube watching all the fashion shows! But sitting there, with a cup of tea , just watching how the clothes move is inspiring!!

O.k. Trying to get the Christmas card photo done. Yes I know it's Dec 21st! But we had to wait till Asia got home from collage...... And do 4 birthday"s and our 20th Anniversary ( yea!!) So they will be mailed out tomorrow. We haven't tried a group shot since Asia was 10 I think. Most moms know how tiring it is to get everyone dressed, fighting everyone with their hair.... the boys hate gel. ....Piper pulled out her ribbons. Trying to convince Piper to take off the thrift store dancing dress and put on her Christmas dress, that i stayed up to sew so she could wear it to church. But she wore this one instead, reassuring me it was Christmassy because it's green .And I had put the turkey in the oven about 15min before this was taken. Company was going to arrive in about 1/2 hour and I still had potatoes to get in the oven..... And that is the story of my life.

Just be... Pettiskirts

I love these pettiskirts. If you've ever seen a little girl in them, they just twirl and twirl. When I sent one to my sister's little girl, she said I should put a disclaimer on the tag that says, " child will not take this off for bed." We have a few left from all the shows. So let me know if your little girl needs to twirl. Also I'll have more for Valentines and Easter.

Brrrrrr cold

It finally snowed!!! Yea, it made the dead grass look so much better! I still haven't convinced Dave to put lights on the church. Yea I guess the roof is kinda high and a little steep. I want to put up a big star. But he keeps nixing me. We need something ...... any ideas????


Loooove skirts with boots in the winter... now that the temperature is lower than 20 degrees, she wears tights with her skirts. Thor totally falls over trying to run with her. He loves the snow.

Some new purses

With all the shows, I'm just now getting some new purses in the shop. There are only a few of these left, so let me know if you need one. Also I added more makeup bags to the shop. More velvet ones to come!!

I just set up for Art Market. You have to go see all the coll stuff they have!! The baked stuff is so good too! I tried a macadamian nut ,mango, chocolate chip cookie that was fabulous! The art, jewelry, lotions, pottery and a whole lot more was just so cool!

Christmas Skirts

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. So awesome to have Asia home from college. We just hung out and spent a lot of time together. Since all the girls were together, we decided they could model some of the new Christmas skirts. So many shows in the next couple of weeks, so many fun new things that have been created for them. Travelling Trunk Show Tomorrow

November 24 (noon-9pm) & November 25 (10am-6pm) at the Hanchett Mansion in the Avenues, 983 E. 3rd Avenue. This newly restored mansion is the perfect venue for a cozy holiday setting. So fun photo shoot

Eliza is the star in these.... She is only 14 months old and knows about 10 animal sounds!! She was sooooo good. Ashley is the beautiful mom ( and Utah State basketball star) . Who so graciously came over to model at the last minute. I got so many cute pictures. The new women's skirts are so fun! Thanks you guys!!

We have makeup bags.... so many different styles!! These are a great gift idea. Just put a favorite perfume, lotion or lipgloss inside and it's a perfect for the holidays. I will be posting more styles in my Etsy store soon.

Let's see .... I'll start, hmmmm this is harder than I thought, I keep thinking of the obvious things, kids, husband, health.....but I'm thinking of something simple. ..I bought these mums the day after labor day lasy year ( beacause they were all a dollar) and my daughter was graduating from high school , so I was making her a lei for graduation. ( I was raised in Hawaii, tradition) So these mums were the cheapest flowers I could find. After I picked most of the flowers off, I decided to plant them. Well they are the flowers that keep on giving, because they are still blooming in our yard!! Piper just picked me a little boquet of them this morning. So that is something I was thankful for today.

Sometimes I feel like the world just doesn't need another purse. Which in reality it really doesn't. I don't need another pair of shoes either. So why do I get all excited when I see a beautiful pair of shoes??? I think you must know what I mean. I'll be looking at Anthropologie or at Zappos and come across a beautiful shoe. It just makes me happy. I don't usually buy the shoe, ( usually out of my price limit) but I really enjoy looking at it and thinking what might I wear it with...

As a mom I totally use the expression " WEll kids in Africa are happy just to own ONE pair of shoes" when my kids want more. When my husband was in Africa, he realated how much they didn't have, but how happy they were ( along with many other wonderful strories, including him bathing naked by Victoria Falls, but I degress...) He did say when someone did make a little more money they did buy nicer shoes. Hmmmm interesting, maybe this shoe thing is universal.

As far as my business goes it's all about creating. I love to make things. There is so much fufillment, excitemant, pleasure out of creating something...whether that be babies, a meal, stories, or purses. So when I'm feeling a little guilty about making another purse, this quote is one of my favorites..

velvet, ,velvet, everywhere

I have collected velvet fabric from all over. It's so fun to mix them with different trims, laces and buttons. Now I just need to figure out which one I want to keep.

New weekender bag, It's made out of really cool cut velvet.

Now I just need to go somewhere to try it out....

green green tomatos green

Sooooo if you had the early snowstorm that killed all your tomato plants, Here's an easy recipe for Green tomato salsa.


Chop all the tomatos, onions, green peppers, garlic and your favorite chiles ( keep seeds if you want it hotter) . Put it all into a big sauce pan. Boil it down for about an hour. More if you like it less chunky. Put in salt, your favorite vinegar ( I like rice wine), a tiny bit of sugar . Stir it for a while, taste it add what ever it needs more of. Then seal.

We made about 30 something jars. My kids have already been through 2 jars!!

How cool is it that I move to Hyrum and my next door neighbor is from Southern Cal too??

Yoga Retreat

Just spent the last 5 days at Hidden Springs Ranch at a yoga retreat. It was fabulous!!! It's run by Corena Hammer who owns the Infusion studio in Bountiful. If you ever have the chance , take a class there. She offers all levels of classes. It is such a wonderful place to be.www.bodyinfusion.com

I learned so many things about myself and how I interact with my world. I came home renewed , energized and excited to just be me. Thanks to all the wonderful people I shared this amazing experience with. We shall cross paths again.

Amara our littlest cousin came to visit. She is so petite and cute! So since I had gotten some new skirts done, we had ourselves a little photo shoot.... She wasn't even scared of Thor ( our very gentile dog). I like this last one of Piper, that is one of her favorite places to sit and dream.... We all need places like that.

Girls Nightout Purse

Risa my cute 8th grader, graciously modeled our new "Girls Nightout Purse" . These are perfect for you phone, gloss, wallet and of course some type of candy! Don't you just love her new rainboots?? She just couldn't wait for the rain so she could wear them.

I don't know about you , but I love buttons!!! I like to look at them, organize them, display them in jars or bowls... Sometimes it's hard to part with them. I would love to cover a whole purse, but then that would mean I would have to part with some....

Oh....but then I could go hunting for some more which is half the fun.

Asia's first marathon

Asia ran her first marathon on saturday!!! She is amazing. I don't know many 18yr olds that would put in the training that you need to do just to finish one of these. But she wanted to do something big after graduating from High school .

I loved training with her, mostly because we had time to talk and talk. And especially because she would be off to college the next year and I would be missing having her around.

We ran the Top Of Utah Marathon, it was perfect weather and a great course. I totally recommend this one. And Asia got in the top 20 for her age group!!!

Oooooooh I just found this vintage hat at our local antique mall!! It is covered in velvet and silk ribbon flowers. The leaves are even edged in gold thread. I'm always amazed at the amount of work that goes into art like this. It is really inspiring!!! Trying new flowers.....

We're already going back to school on Thursday!!! I'm not ready for summer to end. I just looooove how easy smeazy summer is. But for those gals who are getting ready, we have messenger bags in different colors and styles.

for the princess in all of us

I just loved good princess stories growing up, but I was always drawn to the ones about the poor girl in the orphanage that didn't know she was royalty, until one day the letter arrives or the kind Uncle finally finds her and tells her that she has this fortune left to her by these loving parents. There is a great book out there called "I Am Really A Princess" by Carol Sheilds.

One of my favorite lines is.. " Share a room with that girl they call your sister?...Never! your very own room is waiting. Tower-high, with a balcony,a bouncy bed soft as clouds, shelves of books,toys,paints, and puzzles, and behind the shelves, a secret passage, known only to you."

...I guess this always appealed to me because I had a twin sister and we had to share everything. And growing up with 8 kids plus 3 foster kids there was always a desire to somehow be extra special.

So for all you extra special girls out there, these fun crowns will be added to our new fall purses soon!

There is so much to get done! Finish the new shrugs, work on women's birthday skirts and of course new purses for fall. There are going to be a lot more flowers this fall. Have you seen Valentino's new campaign? Can't wait to see more.

belts, belts, belts...

Jeni said we needed more belts, so I've been getting those done. They take me longer than they should because I like to sew on charms ,pearls,beads and bits and pieces of fun things. These should be in the shop soon.

driving with a permit holder

O.k. so I thought I could take my cell and make calls while letting my son drive with his permit, nooooooo way!! I new I was in trouble when he's speeding up around a corner, and I " politely suggest" that he put on the break. He says , "I thought I was, I always get those two pedals mixed up." Does anyone know a service that drives around with 151/2 year olds to get them ready for their test???Is it really a right of passage for parents? Or can we hire out for this????

I looooove cut velvet!!! I've been dying it, flocking it, appliquing ( sp?) , and trying to get it sewn up to get into the shop. If anyone wants the left over scraps let me know, they would be fun to add to cards or whatever you dream up!!
